About Healy Pack GSD Sanctuary

Artistic tribute to Healy Pack Senior GSD Sanctuary founder Linda Healy

Linda Healy began her journey into rescue with one simple belief: every dog deserves love, dignity, and a second chance. What started as a small act of compassion soon grew into a life’s mission: in 2019, Linda founded Healy Pack Senior GSD Sanctuary, rescuing numerous German shepherds (GSDs) from high-kill shelters in Texas, Miami, and across Florida.

Linda opened her home and heart to senior GSDs who had nowhere else to go: the sick, the scared, and the forgotten. She saw their worth when others did not. Dogs like Gigi, who arrived needing urgent medical care; Brody, who was once thought to be at the end of his life but has since amazed everyone with his strength; and Mufasa, a spirited soul still searching for that one special person to give him the stability and love he deserves.

Each dog Linda saved carried a piece of her heart, and every success story reflected her unwavering belief that sometimes, love really is enough.

Continuing the Mission

In early 2025, we lost our beloved founder, Linda Healy. Her passing was unexpected, and her absence is felt deeply by everyone whose life she touched. Yet, in true Linda fashion, she left behind a legacy too strong to fade.

Today, Healy Pack Senior GSD Sanctuary is committed to carrying Linda’s torch forward by rescuing dogs from shelters and offering them the second chance they deserve through foster placement, German shepherd adoption and ongoing care. An extraordinary group of women who share Linda's heart and vision are guiding the Sanctuary as it pursues its mission to offer love, dignity, and second chances into the future.

Healy Pack is a short drive from Tampa, St. Petersburg, Clearwater, and Orlando, located in Inverness, Florida. We invite potential adopters, sponsors, and supporters from across Florida to get involved with Healy Pack.

Our Sanctuary Dogs

When we rescue a dog and are unable to bring him or her back to health, he or she comes to live at the Sanctuary. These dogs are fed, loved, and given veterinary care for the rest of their lives—thanks to folks like you who generously support the Sanctuary or sponsor a senior GSD. These dogs are currently in our care (click for larger photos):

You can say "goodbye" to Sanctuary dogs that have lived out their lives in a loving, caring environment on our Rainbow Crossings page.

Together, with the support of our volunteers, fosters, and donors, the Sanctuary remains a safe haven for senior German shepherds in need. Our commitment is clear: to carry Linda’s torch forward by rescuing dogs from shelters, bringing them to safety, and offering them the second chance they deserve.

Our emotions over the months since Linda's passing have ranged from heartbreak to hope, from exhaustion to gratitude. Yet through it all, one truth remains: Healy Pack will endure. Linda's dream lives on in every rescue, every recovery, and every tail that still wags because someone cared.

To all who have supported us through this transition, THANK YOU. Your generosity, whether through food, donations, fostering, or sharing our mission, has given us the strength to continue.
